FAQ
What is dry ice?
It is carbon dioxide (CO₂) in solid form, at about −78.5 °C. When it warms up it sublimates directly into gas without becoming water.
What is dry ice used for?
To keep seafood, fresh produce, ice cream and frozen food cold in transit, and to create white fog at events and shows.
Can dry ice be stored in an airtight container?
No. Sublimation builds up pressure until the container may burst. Use a foam box or an insulated box that is not tightly sealed.
Can I touch dry ice with bare hands?
No. It is cold enough to cause cold burns (frostbite). Use thick gloves or tongs, and never eat it.
