What it is used for
- TIG (GTAW) welding of stainless steel, aluminium and copper
- MIG (GMAW) welding of aluminium, or as the base of mixed gases
- Back purging behind the weld
- Industrial work that needs an inert atmosphere

FAQ
Is argon flammable?
No — it is an inert gas and does not burn. But it is heavier than air and can accumulate in low or confined spaces, creating a risk of oxygen deficiency, so use it in a well-ventilated area.
What is the difference between pure argon and mixed gas?
TIG welding mainly uses pure argon, while MIG/MAG welding of steel usually uses an argon + CO₂ mix. See the mixed gases page for details.
